Dwight D. Eisenhower

American military officer and statesman Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) served as the 34th president of the United States from 1953 to 1961. He achieved the rank of five-star general in the US Army and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe during World War II. He was responsible for preparing and directing the 1942–43 invasion of North Africa, as well as the 1944–45 Normandy invasion, from the Western Front.
