Richard Nixon
Richard Nixon served as the 37th President of the United States, holding office from 1969 to 1974. A member of the Republican Party, Nixon previously served as the 36th vice president of the United States from 1953 to 1961, growing to national prominence as a California state representative and senator. In addition to the aforementioned accomplishments, Nixon’s presidency also witnessed the end of the United States’ participation in the Vietnam War, the easing of tensions with the Soviet Union and China, and the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency. He was the only president to resign during his tenure in office, as a result of the Watergate scandal.
