William McKinley

President William McKinley was the 25th President of the United States, and served from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. McKinley was the president of the United States during the Spanish–American War of 1898, and he increased defensive tariffs to benefit American industry. He also opposed the free silver monetary policy, holding the country on the gold standard.
