George Washington

The first president of the United States, George Washington, was born on February 22, 1732, and was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and Founding Father. In the nation’s War for Independence, he directed Patriot forces to victory. At the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Washington was one of the convention delegates who helped form the United States Constitution and a central government. As the first president of the United States, Washington has received the designation “Father of His Country.”
