Description

This print reproduces Jacques Reich’s ink drawing of John Adams. Reich (1852 to 1923), a Hungarian-born New York etcher, made a long series of presidential and literary heads from about 1899 to 1920. The shop file uses that span. The drawing is a linear bust after earlier painted and engraved likenesses, not a life sitting. Adams had died in 1826.

Reich’s Adams belongs with his etchings of Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Jefferson sold elsewhere in this shop. New-York Historical Society holds Reich portrait material. This sheet is a twentieth-century graphic, not John Trumbull’s 1790s White House Collection oil and not Gilbert Stuart’s 1800 to 1815 National Gallery canvas. Those paintings are separate objects.

This listing is a contemporary reproduction of the historic print, not an original impression. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
