Description
This print reproduces Sidney Lawton Smith’s 1905 portrait of Theodore Roosevelt. Smith (1845 to 1929) was a Boston engraver and etcher who made bookplates and fine-print heads of American public men. A 1905 Roosevelt plate falls in the second term, the year of the Treaty of Portsmouth.
The image is an engraving or etching after a photograph or painting, not a White House oil sitting. Sargent’s 1903 canvas is a different object, sold separately here. Smith’s sheet belongs to the market for signed artist’s proofs. The shop file dates it 1905. Library of Congress print holdings include Smith engravings of this period.
This listing is a contemporary reproduction of the historic print, not an original impression. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
