Description
This print reproduces James Reid Lambdin’s 1835 oil on canvas of William Henry Harrison, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association. The canvas is about 30 by 25 inches. Lambdin painted Harrison six years before the presidency, when the old general was a civilian public man.
Harrison sits in a dark coat, a bust rather than a battle picture. Albert Gallatin Hoit’s 1840 campaign oil is sold separately here and is not the White House picture. The White House Historical Association lists Lambdin 1835 as the Collection portrait of the ninth president, who served only thirty-one days.
