This print reproduces Eric Draper’s White House photograph of George W. Bush, made on January 14, 2003, in the Roosevelt Room. Draper was chief White House photographer for the full two terms. The file number 030114-O-0000D-001 identifies this blue-tie sitting. The Library of Congress holds a transfer from the Bush Library.
The White House Collection oil listed by the White House Historical Association is John Howard Sanden’s 2011 canvas, painted after Bush left office. That Sanden is not this listing. Draper’s 2003 photograph is the mid-presidency camera portrait, taken in the year of the Iraq invasion, not the later mansion painting.
