Description

This print reproduces John Trumbull’s oil on canvas of John Adams, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association as about 1792 to 1793. Adams sat while vice president. He later called that office the most insignificant that man ever contrived. The canvas is about 30 by 24 inches.

Adams wears a brown coat and white jabot, powdered hair, a bust against a dark ground. A closely related 1793 Trumbull at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG.75.52) records the same sitting. That NPG canvas is sold separately here. Both pictures show Adams before the presidency and before the XYZ crisis of 1798.

This listing is a contemporary print after the painting, not the original oil. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
