Description
This print reproduces Aaron Shikler’s 1970 oil on canvas of John F. Kennedy, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association. Shikler painted it after the assassination. Jacqueline Kennedy chose him. The canvas is about 50 by 34 inches.
Kennedy stands with arms folded, head bowed, the eyes down. Shikler later said the pose came from seeing Kennedy’s young son put his head down in thought. It is not a life sitting. Kennedy died in 1963. Shikler also painted Jacqueline Kennedy for the Collection in 1970. The White House Historical Association lists this Shikler as the Collection picture of the thirty-fifth president.
This listing is a contemporary print after the painting, not the original oil. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
