Description
This print reproduces George P. A. Healy’s 1857 oil on canvas of Millard Fillmore, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association. The canvas is large, about 94 by 58 inches, a full-length. Fillmore was living when Congress commissioned Healy that year.
Fillmore stands in a dark coat in the grand manner. A separate 1858 oil by James Reid Lambdin is sold separately here and is not the White House picture. The White House Historical Association lists Healy 1857, the first of the congressional series to be dated, as the Collection portrait of the thirteenth president.
