Description
This print reproduces Pete Souza’s White House photograph of Barack Obama riding the elevator to the private residence on January 20, 2009. The caption records that he had attended ten inaugural balls after being sworn in. Souza, chief official White House photographer, made the picture at the end of the long first day. Obama stands in white tie in the small car, a private interval after the public oath.
This is a documentary still, not the December 6, 2012 Oval Office camera portrait and not McCurdy’s 2018 Collection oil. The White House Photo Office released inaugural-day pictures as the public record of the transfer of power. The listing follows the January 20, 2009 elevator frame named in the shop file.
This listing is a contemporary print from the photograph, not a vintage print from the sitting. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
