Description
This print reproduces the 1960 campaign poster Kennedy for President. Leadership for the 60’s. The Library of Congress holds original sheets. The design uses a close photographic head of Senator John F. Kennedy and the campaign slogan that tied him to a new decade.
The poster is political advertising, not a White House oil. It dates from the race against Richard Nixon, before the presidency. Aaron Shikler’s 1970 White House Collection portrait is a different object, painted after Dallas, and is sold separately here. This listing follows the 1960 printed poster.
The slogan Leadership for the 60s promised a break with the Eisenhower years. Original sheets are campaign ephemera, now cataloged as historic prints.
