Description
This print reproduces Jacques Reich’s 1900 etched portrait of Theodore Roosevelt. Reich, a Hungarian-born New York printmaker, etched presidents and writers from the 1890s into the 1920s. A 1900 Roosevelt plate dates to the gubernatorial years or the first months of the presidency after McKinley’s assassination in 1901, depending on the month of issue.
The image is an etching after earlier likenesses, not a White House oil sitting. Reich’s later 1919 Roosevelt plate is sold separately here. New-York Historical Society holdings document his presidential etchings, including Roosevelt. This listing follows the 1900 sheet named in the shop title.
This listing is a contemporary reproduction of the historic print, not an original impression. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
