Description
This print reproduces Margaret Lindsay Williams’s 1923 oil portrait of Warren G. Harding. Williams (1888 to 1960), a Welsh painter, made this canvas the year Harding died. The National Portrait Gallery holds it (NPG.66.21). Harding appears as a handsome civilian in a dark suit, a fashion-plate smoothness distinct from Edmund Hodgson Smart’s White House picture.
The White House Historical Association lists Smart’s 1923 oil, not Williams, as the Collection portrait of Harding. That Smart is sold separately here. Williams’s picture is a separate sitting from the same year. Do not treat the two 1923 oils as one object.
This listing is a contemporary print after the painting, not the original oil. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
