Description
This print reproduces Anders Leonard Zorn’s 1911 oil on canvas of William Howard Taft, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association. Zorn, the Swedish painter, painted Taft in office. The canvas is about 46 by 35 inches.
Taft sits in a dark suit, a direct, fleshy likeness in Zorn’s wet manner. William Valentine Schevill also painted Taft. The National Portrait Gallery holds a Schevill Taft, sold separately here. The White House Historical Association lists Zorn 1911, not Schevill, as the Collection portrait of the twenty-seventh president. Zorn had already painted Frances Cleveland for the mansion in 1899.
This listing is a contemporary print after the painting, not the original oil. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
