Description

This print reproduces Harriet Anderson Stubbs Murphy’s 1902 oil on canvas of William McKinley, the White House Collection portrait cataloged by the White House Historical Association. McKinley was shot on September 6, 1901, and died on September 14. Murphy painted a posthumous state likeness. The canvas is about 60 by 36 inches.

McKinley stands in a dark coat, a commemorative full-length rather than Benziger’s 1897 life bust, which is sold separately here. Murphy, an American painter of public men, gave the mansion its Collection picture of the twenty-fifth president. The White House Historical Association lists Murphy 1902.

This listing is a contemporary print after the painting, not the original oil. Choose fine art paper, luster photo paper, or mounted canvas.
